The Famous Pinks at La Brea Ave
Have you heard about the Famous Hotdog place Pink's? Well, it is one of the most well known landmark in Hollywood besides the Hollywood Walk of Fames. Paris Hilton has dined there and so did a lot of other movie stars. If you arrive at the right time, you may be able to meet one.
We've long heard about this place but have never try it since I've landed my feet in LA more than 10 years ago. This is a family-owned business since 1939. WOW, counting this year, they'd have been in business for 68 years. Back then, their hotdogs were selling for 10 cents each. ONLY A DIME for a hotdog and a warmed bun! Today their chili dog is selling for $2.85 each.
Arrived at 420pm. They do provide quite a number of parking spaces. Luckily, we found a space (or else we would have left). By the time we joined the queue, the line was twisted to the back of their parking lot. Crazy. I thought it was going to be fast, but it wasn't. We waited close to 45 minutes to place the order and it only took us less than 10 minutes to gobble up our dinner. We ordered the 10" chili dog, pastrami ruben dog, chili fries and onion rings. I didn't much fancy their recipe for the chili but the hotdog was good. The pastrami ruben dog with sauerkraut was not bad. Though I think their chili and fries were too oily. Onion rings were good. By the way, inside their restaurant, they have a wall of fame with autographed movie/tv actors/actresses pictures that have visited their place. The pictures filled almost the whole dining area. Amazing!
Will we go back again? Guess not, not for the wait. Their hotdog is really good, but to wait almost an hour for it, neh. But now at least I can tell my friends, "I've been to Pink's where the movie stars go for their midnight snacks."
They are famous for their hotdogs, there's no doubt. If you are in the neighborhood, and have a few extra hours some time, you gotta stop by this place. Even though to me, their food is good but not worth the long wait. But at least after the long queue, you get to tell your friends, "I've DINED at PINK's."
