Bubba Gump Shrimp @ Santa Monica Pier

As we were shopping at Third Street Promenade, I felt a little hungry and suggested Hubby and I and our little boy go for lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp. The name sounds familiar? Well, it was based on Forest Gump the movie where by Forest Gump best friend Bubba has a dream of owning a shrimp fishing company but he died in the Vietnam War. Forest Gump later helped to realized his best friend dream and became so successful in his shrimp fishing business that he named Bubba Gump Shrimp.

Anyway, this was our 2nd time visiting a Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co. The first time was a few years back when we were visiting Monterey Bay and dropped by a Bubba Gump Shrimp & Co in that area. The food is delicious. We enjoy it but it may be a little pricey for our everyday/weekly/monthly dining. Once in a blue moon is OK. We don't usually spend over $30 for lunch. But at this place, be prepared to go over.

As we approached the main entrance, there was no one to greet us. Supposedly someone is standing at the booth outside to seat the customers. We weren't just going to stand there, so we walked into the building. Hubby saw a young man in their uniform and informed him that we needed a table for 2 plus a child. He told us to take the elevator to go downstair. So we went into the elevator and to the lower level.

Upon arriving the entrance, we saw they were busy with something and only attended to us minutes later. Told us to leave the stroller outside the entrance. Showed us to a table in the center of the room that was blocked off from the view of the beach. Though, we were still able to glimpse to the public stairs coming down from the pier but it wasn't a view. A high chair was brought over fairly quickly for our little one.

The server came by and greeted us and gave us the menu as well as informed us on the daily special. We were hungry, so we orderred the special which was the Aloha Mahi Mahi and Shrimp Dipping Broth with 2 glasses of water. While waiting, my boy was playing with the booklet they gave him but they had forgotten to give us the crayons, so I went back to the entrance and requestes a few crayons.

It didn't take too long for our meal to arrive. The food was good, both dishes came with white jasmine rice. I was feeding my boy a little of the white rice from my portion of Shrimp Dipping Broth because the Aloha Mahi Mahi has salsa and sweet & sour sauce on top of the rice. Didn't want to give him too much flavor. We enjoyed our meal and I wasn't too filled up after the meal. I am not a big eater but I think I was just hungry that afternoon. Our total bill was $41 including tips.
