Safety of your home

Back in 2002, our house was broken into. The buglars, whom we suspected might be students from the nearby high school, broke into our home thru the master bathroom's window which was slightly opened to let air in. I was out running errand for a very short time and when I drove my car into my driveway and the garage opening might have scared the buglars away. I only knew what happened after I unlocked my main door and I saw the back door was left opened wide. I remember shutting that door before I left. I quickly moved into the house and only saw mess in our bedrooms. Lucky for us, they were in there for a very short time. We lost a few items but they were not of expensive stuff.
We looked for home security system immediately after the incident. But there were so many types of home security and we didn't equip ourselves with enough information. Some system required monthly payment and some you just buy the equipment and install yourself. Some were corded, some were wireless. We were so confused and didn't proceed with our purchase. We just make sure we lock our doors and windows everytime before we leave our home. We may eventually get a wireless home security system when I have enough time to research about this product.
